TOEIC Error Correction

Will / Going To

We can use will and going to to make predictions about the future. Sometimes there is not much difference between will and going to.

  •                     I think the weather will be nice later.
  •                     I think the weather is going to be nice later.

We say something is going to happen because we have some physical evidence.

  •                    I think it’s going to rain. (because there are clouds in the sky)
  •                    I think I’m going to be sick. (because I feel terrible now)

Do not use will in these situations. We use will to make predictions when we feel something will happen because of intuition or experience.

Be bound to / Be sure to

We use be bound to/be sure to to say something is certain to happen.

  •                     He’s bound to be late.
  •                     He’s sure to be late.

Be likely to

We use Be likely to to say something probably will or won’t happen.

  •                      Peter’s likely to get the job. OR It’s likely Peter will get the job.
  •                      Jane isn’t likely to get the job. OR It’s not likely Jane will get the job.

Might / May / Could

We use might/may/could to say something possibly will or won’t happen.

  •                      Peter might get the job.

TOEIC Top Tips 1

¡TOEICEnhorabuena! Vas a tomar el examen TOEIC.

Love Speaking is here to give you some very helpful tips on how to successfully prepare yourself for the test every week to help you succeed at each step of the way. Read our top 3 tips for this week below.

Haz click para conocer los mejores Cursos de Inglés Online

Tip #1: Set a goal / Establece una meta

The first thing you need to do is set a goal. If you are taking the test as a requirement for a job, try to find out what level you need to get in order to be successful. Make sure that the goal is achievable. This means not aiming too high but also not aiming too low. This will ensure that you are not disappointed with the final result.

Tip #2: Understand the test Entienda el examen

Before you start studying for the test, make sure you understand the format of each section. You will be tested on your listening and reading comprehension skills. By doing practice tests, you will become very familiar with how the test works. It should become “second nature” to you before you attempt the real thing so that there is nothing on the test that will surprise you.

Tip #3: Make a study plan / Haz un plan de estudios

Even though you may have booked your TOEIC test months in advance, the day you decide to take the test should be the day you start to study too. You will have to decide whether or not you are going to teach yourself with  resources or take a preparation class. Studying at the same time every day is a great way to improve your score. Write down your study plan and stick to it

La mejor manera de hablar el inglés en verano es viajar a un país de habla inglesa … Por supuesto!

Tip of the Week | Consejo para esta semana

The best way to speak better English is to travel to an English-speaking country, of course! Don’t stay on a resort where there will be many foreigners, instead stay in trendy areas where the locals hang out. You have many choices for your break– USA, England, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand and Canada are just a few options for the traveller seeking an English-speaking experience.

Phrase of the Week – Frase de la Semana

To travel light: to bring very few things with you when you go on a trip

“Baggage fees are extortionate! Make sure to travel light if you are flying with a budget airline.”

Amazing fact of the Week | Curiosidades

¿Morbo o curiosidad historica?

Tourists have a once-in-a-lifetime chance to take a Titanic memorial cruise this year, on the 100th anniversary of its sinking. Two memorial cruises will sail in April, one from New York and one from Southampton, England (which is already sold out). They will circle the spot where the ship went down.
