American flag, made from food. Via Visual News

What’s your favourite cuisine? Mine is without a doubt Italian. So much so that when I was living there, you could tell – I was a little more rounded. I couldn’t get enough of the mouthwatering pizzas, the crunchy arancini, and the delicious pasta. Then, of course there’s the red wine; Nero D’Avola is my favourite, and the most dangerous.

I came across a collection of photos of flags made from food, taken by an Australian Advertising agency called WHYBINTBW. The images are of flags from around the world, made from the cuisine of that country. The agency came up with the idea and took these delicious photographs to promote the Sydney International Food Festival, Australia’s largest food festival.

The swinging Lindy Hop scene of Madrid and Toledo

Publicado el by admin Publicado en Novedades, Weekend Blog, WHAT'S HOT | Deja un comentario

swing_toledoI don’t want to sound like Ana Botella when I say this, but Madrid really is a city that has a lot to offer. Apart from a buzz on the street that I’ve not quite found anywhere else, the capital of Spain is brimming with a great variety of daytime and late night activities to keep you busy until 2014.

It was in Madrid, for example, that one evening some friends and I went along to a free Lindy Hop (also known as Swing dance) class to try it out. I don’t mean to sound dramatic, but this statement is true: ever since that day, my life has changed for the better.

Ana Botella’s cup of cafe con leche ridiculed

Publicado el by admin Publicado en MAGAZINE, Novedades, Weekend Blog, WHAT'S HOT | Deja un comentario

Ana Botella inspired: Keep calm and café con lecheOver the weekend I couldn’t avoid encountering satirical commentary on Ana Botella’s now infamous speech on Saturday, in front of the IOC (International Olympic Committee) in Buenos Aires. I was even receiving Whatsapp messages about it from my friends in Spain, whilst still in the UK. That’s when you know something is buzzworthy.

It was clear to see that Botella had not only embarrassed herself, but the entire Spanish nation too. In fact, “Plaza Mayor” is still a trending topic on Twitter, 2 days after the speech. That’s not to mention the group on Facebook, A relaxing cup of café con leche in la Plaza Mayor, which has 110K likes.
